Item Description
One of the best pieces from a single pocket found in April 2005 in Bolivia. There were only a few good specimens from this discovery, and if you collect carbonates or Bolivian minerals, don't miss out on this one. A 3.5 cm predominant, sharp, very well-formed, beautiful greenish-gold colored rhomb of Siderite with notably lighter tan colored clay inclusions aesthetically sits atop a matrix comprising micro grey sparkling Quartz crystals plus sharp, metallic golden octahedral Pyrite, a tiny bit of silvery-grey Tetrahedrite on the bottom left side. Additional smaller "disc"-shaped compressed Siderite crystals can be seen all over the matrix. The main Siderite is undamaged, it looks beautiful when backlit, and is set so elegantly upon the underlying matrix. To top it off, the piece displays beautifully without the aid of a base or clay! Excellent quality, very showy and HARD TO FIND from Machacamarca. This piece was valued at $1250 in the inventory for good reason. Nearly every other piece in the pocket either had damage or wasn't very aesthetic. I only know of three others that I think are equal to this piece in terms of quality. I don't have another specimen of this material to offer, so if you want this piece, don't let it slip away in the hopes that another will come along, as it's nearly impossible these specific specimens will be found again.
