Item Description
Shigaite is a very rare aluminum manganese sulfate, with most of the very best having come from South Africa. This small cabinet features a cluster of vitreous, dark yellow-brown (with a hint of red) Shigaite crystals placed across the top of a matrix composed of botryoidal Hematite intergrown with Gageite (itself a rare, hydrous manganese silicate). The habit for the Shigaite is classic: sharp, tabular, and hexagonal crystals. The Shigaites average about 3-4 mm across. A good, representative piece for the Shigaite, and an excellent, rare combination overall.
