Item Description
Dozens of the rare aluminum manganese sulfate Shigaite populate the very unusual matrix of this specimen. The hexagonal Shigaites have superb luster, a fiery yellow-orange color, and reach up to about .3 cm in size. The Shigaites grow primarily on fine, shimmery brown blades of an unknown mineral, and are adjoining abundant fine crystalline pink manganese-bearing Calcite. This attractive, unusual combination piece goes beyond the normal, but still rare, Shigaite/Calcite specimens that you find.
