Shattuckite and Quartz

A very sparkly pocket of Quartz-coated Shattuckite, all in massive grey Quartz. Shattuckite is one of the most sought-after species from the Kaokoveld region, and when the blue Shattuckite is coated with Quartz, it adopts a deeper shade of Air Force Blue. Naturally, the Quartz coating also gives the pocket a superb, wet luster. If you look closely, you can see Shattuckite inclusions in the bases of the Quartz crystals, giving the specimen an added level of mineralogical interest and beauty. This is a fine, attractive small cabinet specimen from a well-known and once-prolific region.
