Item Description

A hard to find specimen of this rare copper silicate featuring beautiful blue, radiating, velvety Shattuckite free of matrix. You can see that one side of the piece is exposed, revealing how the piece has formed in thin "needle" like crystals radiating from a central point. This piece is from the momentous discovery in 2014 at the Tantara Mine in DR Congo, (note this is NOT from Namibia), and was analyzed / confirmed at the University of Arizona - although it most likely does contain a small amount of Plancheite and possibly Ajoite. If you're a collector of copper silicates or minerals from the Congo, don't miss out on this eye-catching, displayable specimen. Rarely does one encounter specimens of this hard to find species, especially with such attractive form. Valued at $800 retail.
