Item Description
Most of the beautiful cornflower-blue bubbly shattuckite botryoids from this limited 2014 find have nubby surfaces. This sculptural piece has both nubby and soft to the touch surfaces, that feel like chalk. Highly unusual and showy! This less well-known extinct open pit copper mine is worked occasionally for specimens. Beautiful shimmering chatoyancy highlights the fantastic two-color rich cornflower-blue radial growth of the acicular crystals on the broken botryoids on the periphery of this striking specimen. The bottom shows, that this is a solid crust of shattuckite, a rare Cu-silicate. The aesthetic form of this piece is remarkable and is certainly one of the finet and more unusual examples in the small lot we recently received. Valued at $500 by the former dealer and worth it.
