Sharp Tantalite xl (RARE)

Item Description

Sharp tantalite crystals are VERY RARE from any of the myriad of pegmatites in Madagascar. Most Coumbite-Tantalite Series specimens shown in MINDAT are columbites and have spearpoint terminations. The pristine, 2.5 x 1.8 x 0.7 cm, lustrous, jet-black, textbook tabular crystal is aesthetically set in the quartz and feldspar pegmatite matrix. The back and a side of the matrix are richly peppered with tiny, sharp, gemmy, rose-pink crystals (garnets?) as a bonus. Rare and outstanding tantalite valued at $750.
