Sharp Franklinite xls in Calcite (Ted Bartels Coll.)

Textbook, sharp, lustrous, jet-black franklinite octahedrons are jauntily set on the scupltural massive calcite matrix on this excellent combination from Franklin. The crowning glory, nearly pristine octo is 1.8 x 16 x 1.4 cm. The crystals reach 2.4 cm on this very showy piece with three fine display views. Bruising is noted to some of the octos, but is certainly acceptable in the context of this fine piece. The calcite has modest fluorescence. From the Ted Bartels Collection and comes with a Gerstmann's label, well-known Franklin collectors and dealers, dating from the early 1960s to 1980. Classic Franklin franklinite and calcite.
