Item Description
Eosphorite is a fairly rare hydrated Mn-Al phosphate, usually found in phosphate-rich pegmatites. Some of the finest examples comes from the pegmatites of the famous Linopolis area and this is an outstanding example. The sharp orthorhombic prism has classic tabular form with a prominent wedge-shaped termination. Two generations of rich honey-brown eosphorite compose this striated, moderately lustrous translucent crystal. The second generation, lighter brown termination cap adds real pizzazz to this very fine two-sided crystal. This is a large and sharp example for the species and locale. It GLOWS, when back lit. Classic and excellent eosphorite from the David Burgess Collection and obtained from well-known Brazilian dealer, Luis Menezes.
