Item Description
A classic Serpierite specimen from the Lavrion Mining area in Greece, which is one of the oldest known districts of continued mining dating back to the 3rd millennium B.C.. This miniature sized piece features micro rich blue colored crystals of Serpierite (the species was first discovered in Lavrion) on matrix. We've photographed the piece under magnification to better show the quality of the little Serpierites. A cool rarity from this historic locality.
From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
