Item Description
Discovered in 1975, Senegalite is a very rare aluminum phosphate, seldom seen except in occasional small pockets from this mine, the Type Locality for the species. This 2 cm pocket is lined with beautiful, gemmy, 1 mm crystals, many with attractive white tips. It is associated with veins of attractive blue Turquoise. Other than one freak find in Brazil, this seems to be the ONLY source for good crystalline Senegalite, and it's been well over a decade since a large find has come to market. This is a particularly rich specimen in that they usually form in small vugs, and so large exposures are quite hard to come by. Aesthetic and rare. Old Luis Leite label.
