Senegalite (incredibly rare)

This is a beautiful and rarely seen specimen of Senegalite, an incredibly rare hydrated aluminum hydroxy phosphate. This species was first described in 1976 and was named after the nation of Senegal, the site of the type locality, and even nearly 50 years later, is only found in a few localities in the world. As a matter of fact, outside of the type locality, the only other country where Senegalite is found is Brazil. This is a lovely miniature sized specimen featuring sparkling beautiful yellow-green crystals of Senegalite which are associated with thin layers of stark sky blue Turquoise in vugs of Limonite matrix. The color and quality are very good for the species. If you collect rare species or minerals from the type locality, do not miss out on this one as they are rarely offered for sale these days, especially in this size and quality.
