Item Description
Semseyite is an uncommon lead, antimony sulfosalt. This is a very showy and uncommonly sharply crystallized combination specimen from the famous Herja Mine. A nifty vug on each side is lined with metallic, lamellar, semseyite crystals to 1.3 cm. The isolation of the semseyite crystals in the vugs is distinctive and rare for the locale! They are naturally lustorus and (as the calcite proves) unetched by acid. A pretty wreath of rosettes of flattened calcite rhombs aesthetically lies atop the vug on one side. Calcites of this quality are rarely seen in combination with semseyite from Herja. In fact, I cannot recall another going by me. This is just a gorgeous piece, therefore, but ALSO the single large and isolated crystal in middle is of high quality on its own merit. Valued $500. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
