Seligmannite (rare) (ex Bill Wilson Collection)

Item Description

Lengenbach is one of the great mineral-producing localities in the world in terms of total number of species and lots of rarities. 170 different mineral species have been found there, and Lengenbach is the type locality for 47 of them(!) including Seligmannite. This piece is a wonderful specimen of this rare lead copper arsenic sulfosalt featuring dark lead grey colored orthorhombic crystals sitting on granular white Dolomite. Minor streaks of pale golden metallic Pyrite can be seen on the piece as well. The Seligmannite is best seen under magnification, like most minerals from Lengenbach, but it's still a decent representation of this classic material.
