Item Description

Sekaninaite is the rare Fe analogue of cordierite and was only discovered in 1968. This excellent miniature is from the Type Locality in the Czech Republic. A sharp, glassy, bluish-purple, orthorhombic crystal is jauntily set in orthoclase matrix. The top and frontal face are contacted, but this remains a way above average crystallized example of the rare species.
