Item Description
Serpierite is relatively uncommon hydrated calcium, copper, zinc sulfate Glassy, powder-blue, blebs and turquoise-blue blades of secondary serpierite crystals richly encrust both sides of the limonitic matrix on this showy and excellent specimen from an old zinc smelter in Germany. Many rare to uncommon secondary lead and zinc minerals have been recovered from the slag dumps. The smelter was built in 1886 and this is probably older material.
