Scorodite on Pyrite (rare)

Item Description

From the recent find a few years ago in China, a shapely cluster of highly lustrous scorodite crystals is nicely set on the crest of the pyrite matrix. The scorodite crystals vary in color from a metallic-blue hue to a slight greenish-blue to a coffee color. The crystals are gemmy to opaque and measure up to 6 mm. Upon close inspection, one can see that these scorodites are actually well crystallized. This find in the Hezhou area is the only significant find of scorodite to hit the market in a long time. Since the initial discovery of this material, very little has been seen on the market.
