Item Description

A classic, old time, very hard to find specimen of the celebrated Scorodites from Graul, in Saxony, Germany. The type locality for Scorodite is in Graul (the Stam Asser Mine), but I can't say for certain which mine this piece is from since it was only labeled as coming from Graul. The piece features many micro crystals of gemmy, soft steel-blue colored Scorodite on host rock matrix. The crystals are <1mm, but they look beautiful under magnification. We have photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. If you collect rarities, old classics or mineral from the type locality, do not pass this one up. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3217). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
