Item Description
Scorodite is a hydrated Iron Arsenate, and is named after the Greek word "Scorodion" meaning garlic, for the smell emanated when the species is heated. The species is found in various worldwide localities, including the famous Franklin Mining District in New Jersey. This piece features micro, gemmy crystals of Scorodite on matrix. The piece came to Rich Kosnar from noted New Jersey collector Pat Gross, and her original black plastic mounting box accompanies the piece. According to the label, the piece was purchased from local dealer Jim's Gems in January of 1983. A cool specimen of this classic material.
