Item Description

Scorodite is a hydrated Iron Arsenate, and is named after the Greek word "Scorodion" meaning garlic, for the smell emanated when the species is heated. The species is found in various worldwide localities, including the famous Franklin Mining District in New Jersey. This piece features several micro, sharp, almost metallic, dark blue color, orthorhombic crystals of Scorodite on matrix. The piece came to Rich Kosnar from noted New Jersey collector Pat Gross, and her original black plastic mounting box accompanies the piece. A cool specimen of this classic material.
