Exceptionally rich three-sided scolecite from this famous Iceland Zeolite locale. Scolecite is RARE from here in this quality. Striking intergrown diverging sprays of glassy, pearlescent, translucent to transparent scolecite needles cover three sides of a vug in basalt matrix. Previously in the collection of well-known East Coast collector, Joe Cilen, who passed away in 1997. He acquired the piece at the Schortmann's sale in 1942 and was collected before World War II. The specimen number matches the label number of respected rarities dealer, Josef Vajdak (Pequa Minerals). Ex David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named.
