Item Description

A big composite group of prismatic Scolecite crystals from an undisclosed locality in the Maharashtra state of India. The crystals are smooth and lustrous, and even show a bit of gemminess near the terminations. It's a historic specimen as it was found over 50 years ago, and pre-dates the boom of Indian trap rock minerals making their way around the world. Very good quality all around, and certainly a must have for any fan of minerals from the Deccan Trap. From the collection of the beloved mineral dealer and collector Rock H. Currier (1940-2015) who was the long-time owner of Jewel Tunnel Imports. Collection #1465 - acquired from Dick Hauck in 1970, prior to Rock making his first trip to India to import zeolites and associated minerals. At the time, this was a significant specimen of Scolecite. Rock travelled the world in search of mineral specimens, and built and impressive collection over his lifetime. He was one of the more colorful and unforgettable figures in the mineral world.
