Schorl with Quartz, Feldspar

Erongo Tourmalines all seem to be the dark species known as Schorl and these Schorls are particularly well known for their luster and excellent textbook form. Here is a distinctive grouping of attractive, lustrous, sharp, jet black Schorl crystals with many of the crystals having the famous, and desired, trigonal 'Mercedes' termination. The highlight of the piece is the sharp large dramatic double terminated Schorl measuring 6.3 cm x 4.8 cm. The Schorls are accented by numerous translucent clear terminated Quartz crystals, up to 3.4 cm in length, and a few porcelain white Feldspar crystals sprinkled in. The feldspar does have a nice orange fluorescence and there maybe some small amounts of colorless Opal-AN (formerly "Hyalite" Opal) that can be seen on the specimen glowing a brilliant green hue under UV light. The doubly-terminated and important crystal is in great condition, however the piece has some damage on a few of the smaller crystals. Even with some of the bruising noted, the piece still stands out given the outstanding dominate central Schorl crystal. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl.
