Schorl with Fluorite

Item Description

Here is a fine, stout Schorl crystal from Erongo with classic, superb, striated faces and it is beautifully accented by a purplish Fluorite crystal. The Schorl is highly lustrous with distinctly furrowed prism faces parallel to its length and then shows multiple terminations along with a small, jackstraw jumble of small Tourmaline crystals off to one side at the top. Given the furrowed, or strongly striated, faces the crystal almost has a silky luster in places and displays a hit of brown-green, this suggests the possibility of the rare tourmaline species Foitite (likely given the shape of this crystal, and most turn out to be foitite atop schorl,but we have not analyzed it). The 2 cm, medium purple Fluorite is perched aesthetically near the top of the crystal on one of the prism faces. An attractive Erongo Tourmaline-Fluorite piece!
