Schorl with Epidote and Hyalite Opal

Erongo has produced some of the finest Schorl ever found, and this three-dimensional piece is no exception. Like many of the great Schorls from here, the luster on these jet-black crystals is superb, and they have the famous trigonal (Mercedes) terminations. The single large Schorl is 2.2 cm tall and 2.2 cm across. It rests on a plate nearly a hundred smaller, but equally sharp and attractive, Schorls. The plate is crystalline on both top and bottom. On the Schorls can be found dustings of micro Epidote and Hayalite Opal. An excellent, very well-formed and aesthetic, small cabinet specimen.
