Schorl with Elbaite

An impressive and aesthetic, CABINET, schorl specimen from an unknown pegmatite in Brazil; and the Schlichter Collection. The highly lustrous and strongly striated, parallel-growth crystal cluster has prominent and striking, uneven terminations. The faces and edges of the terminations have just a slight overgrowth of olive-green elbaite that definitely adds character. The primary terminations are all pristine, which is very good. A couple of sidecar crystals have broken tips and contacting at the base on the back is noted, but these are certainly modest detractions. This is an imposing and very showy schorl from this world-famous locale. 411 grams or nearly a pound in weight!
