Item Description

A rarely seen Schorl specimen from Fresno Co., California featuring dozens of sharp, lustrous, jet-black, thin, prismatic crystals of Schorl in semi-parallel growth asoociated with silvery beige spherical "rosette"-shaped groups of Muscovite and a pair of GEM quality, water clear colorless crystals of Quartz, but the most imprtant aspect of the piece is that it features a 1.0 cm, hexagonal white euhedral, doubly-termianted crystal of Apatite! A great association specimen from central California. The piece comes originally from the collection of Marty Zinn, and later came to be in the collection of John Arnaud in Colorado. I love the arrangement of the two gem Quartz crystals creating a "goal post"-esque to allow the Apatite crystal to gently rest in the center, along with the single Schorl "needle" underneath. A great display piece, and certainly a wonderful opportunity for a California pegmatite collector to add to their collection!
