Schorl with Albite ex Meieran

This specimen is a study in black and white contrasts, with glassy, lustrous, jet black schorl tourmaline crystals immersed in blocky white feldspars. It looks like nothing so much as schorls drowning in an ocean of iceberg chunks. I remember seeing this pocket when Gene bought a portion of it (and expect smaller pieces to come in future auctions, although this is the best in my opinion), and my first thought was admittedly that they were jumbly; followed by a revelation that the contrasts were so sharp and amazing, that actually I had never seen a combo quite like this. It is simply beautiful in a stark and sculptural way that few such combinations are. This is not quite complete all around, with a few broken crystals and one repair that we note. However, it is mostly complete and displays dramatically. Valued $2000-2500.
