Schorl Tourmaline with Albite

Item Description

This near large cabinet sized specimen features an unusual style for Schorl Tourmaline from the famous Shigar Valley in Pakistan. Instead of single prismatic crystal, the piece has an odd termination with a small almost "jackstraw"-esque cluster of thinner prisms that are actually sitting on top of the larger thicker Schorl. An accenting white blocky crystal of Albite at the base of the piece makes for a nice touch. The bottom of the crystal features a single incomplete Schorl that is growing almost perpendicularly against the larger crystal, but the sides are slightly overgrown, creating a "step"-like indentation. The attractive jet black prisms have a bright glistening luster which can be seen on every side of the specimen. Strong striations are also present on all sides of the piece, which are accentuated by the luster in my mind. This is a hard one to photograph, and really looks better in person. An odd but still good quality and showy specimen that would make a nice addition to any Tourmaline suite or a collection of minerals from Pakistan. Valued at $1,200-$1,800.
