Item Description
A showy and fine quality large miniature / small cabinet sized display piece from the Little Cahuilla Mountain in California featuring a few very sharp, highly lustrous, opaque, jet-black colored prismatic crystals of Schorl measuring up to 2.3 cm sitting on beautifully contrasting white Albite matrix. The piece is in great shape, and the only real damage is against the back of the piece where it was removed from the pocket wall. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
