Item Description
A lovey, multi-crystal specimen of jet-black Schorl Tourmaline crystals measuring up to 1.7 cm are intergrown with white feldspar to create this showy display specimen. The luster really stands out as it really shines even in moderate lighting. The piece is in superb shape, with only a few little nicks on the back / bottom, but it's nearly crystallized all the way around, save the back. These Schorls are some of the finest examples of the species from any world locality in terms of size, quality and aesthetics. Valued at $600. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #786). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
