Item Description
Please note: This specimen is labeled as coming from a place called Hoerlbach near Lam in Bavaria. I cannot find a listing for this locality, but there are many localities in Bavaria where black (Schorl) Tourmalines have been found. If anybody has some insight as to where this piece might be from, please feel free to contact us. With that said, this specimen is a stout, sharp, well-formed, black (with slight bronze highlights) trigonal prism with good luster and well-formed faces. Good quality on the display side, but the back edge is contacted. Tourmalines from any German locality are quite rare, so if you're a Tourmaline collector or a fan of German minerals, do not let this one get away. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4531). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
