Item Description
A classic sharply terminated, lustrous, well-striated, trigonal jet-black schorl crystal from Little Cahuilla Mountain in Riverside County. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. Contacting on the prism faces, where other crystals once lay, has negligible damage and has minimal impact to the fine quality of the crystal. Schorl, beryl and quartz were the primary species from the pegmatites on the mountain. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011. Probably from the 1980s finds at the Fano Mine. This is very rare COunty material
