Item Description

The Crabtree Mine is a famous Emerald producing locality dating back to 1894. Gem quality Emeralds up to 70 carats were found at this locality over the years, along with other associated pegmatite minerals like Tourmaline. Here we have a rarely seen matrix Schorl Tourmaline specimen from this well-known mine featuring many sharp, lustrous, well-formed prismatic jet-black crystals measuring up to 2.0 cm on white Albite and mica schist matrix. The Schorl crystals obviously were "cracked" at some point during their formation, and the Albite filled in the spaces. If you collect pegmatite minerals, classic U.S. material or odd Tourmaline specimens, don't miss out on this one, as they are very hard to find on the market.
