Item Description

Combination specimens of this size and quality are VERY RARE from this obscure Riverside County pegmatite worked in the late 1960s and 70s. A 2.2 cm, lustrous, striated schorl crystal strikingly engulfed by two, glassy, transparent to translucent, quartz crystals with preferentially frosted faces. The sculptural matrix is feldspar with some muscovite. The schorl is very nearly pristine, with only trivial edge wear. The secondary quartz crystal is pristine and the large quartz is dinged. The sawed base reveals a few very clean repairs or reinforcements, which is certainly acceptable in the context of this important combination piece. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and obtained in 1969. A MUST for the locality or pegmatite collector. Value?
