Item Description
A rarity from Erongo featuring prismatic, black, striated trigonal crystals of Schorl measuring up to 3.1 cm which are sitting on very well-preserved, sharp, rhombic pseudomorphs of Goethite replacing Siderite. I've only seen a handful of these specimens over the years, and this one is particularly nice. The pseudomorphs remind me of similar specimens I've seen from the Lake George area of Colorado. The piece is nearly crystallized all the way around, with only one spot where it was removed from the pocket wall. I love the balance and aesthetics as the piece can be displayed from several angles. Considering this a "black rock", it's a beautiful and showy display specimen that would make a great addition to any Erongo suite or a Tourmaline collection. Valued at $700. Ex Charlie Key personal collection. Charlie is arguably the most sucessful dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
