Item Description

A 3.5 cm, terminated, lustrous, striated, jet-black schorl crystal is dramatically set on the side of a striking floater doubly terminated smoky quartz crystal from an unknown pegmatite on Little Cahuilla Mountain. One side of the schorl has an impression, where another crystal once lay, but with no damage, per se. The fascinating, shapely, translucent, satin luster, variable smoky color quartz crystal is further highlighted by the two decidedly different two terminations - the single angled termination versus the impressive multiple termination on the broad end. The smoky is complete all-around and nearly pristine. The back of the single termination is dinged and is out-of-sight in the primary display view. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. An exceptional sculptural schorl and smoky quartz combination from the locale.
