Item Description
Mineral specimens are EXTREMELY RARE from this obscure crushed stone quarry in Maryland. MINDAT lists five species for the locality, with NO photos. This superb rarity features three parallel-growth terminated schorl crystals aesthetically set on the chlorite schist matrix. The highly lustrous trigonal crystals reach reach 5.5 cm long. Adding much interest, the schorls exhibit tectonic fracturing, off-setting and recementing parallel to the C-axis. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1996. A MUST for the species or locality collector. A very rare, perhaps UNIQUE Maryland matrix schorl from this locality.
