Schorl in Quartz (old rare New York)

Item Description

Mineral specimens of any type are uncommon from this old, obscure New York pegmatite mined for feldspar. A 3.5 cm, lustrous, jet-black schorl crystal is nicely frozen in the massive quartz matrix. The interesting termination is lightly dinged and the crystal is well-striated. This remains a rare and very fine, probably old-time example of the species and locale. From a museum collection.
