Item Description
Lustrous, striated, jet-black schorl crystals and crystal sections, to 2.7 cm, are pleasingly scattered on all sides of the mounded, granular, small cabinet, quartz pegmatite matrix. Two of the prisms are terminated. There are over 20 schorls embedded on the quartz plus impressions where other crystals once lay, adding character. This less well-known Georgia pegmatite is best known for Beryl crystals. Rich matrix tourmaline specimens, such as this, are uncommon. Self-collected by John Whatley in 2005. Ex John Whatley Collection, a well-known Georgia collector (1939-2022). A choice and rich schorl specimen from the less-well known locale.
