Sculptural and aesthetic large 360-degree specimen of dramatically intergrown, jet-black schorl crystals from the famous Erongo Mountains. The impressive large dominating terminated crystal is 4.5 cm long. Many of the crystals have spiky, rod-like terminations or are rod-like by themselves. Some people consider such spiky terminations and rods to be Foitite, a rare Tourmaline Group species discovered in 1993 (perhaps these are, but you need analysis to be sure). Specimens of this quality IN THIS SIZE are rare from the Erongo Mountains. 100 percent identification is only possible by suitable analytical methods but well-known dealer and Africa specialist, Charlie Key, told us that all such crystals are either foitite or a foitite/schorl series.
