This is a jet-black, complex crystal of schorl tourmaline that has a presence and a heft to it, in person, that really makes it stand out. It is a black tourmaline that easily can hold its own in standing alongside gemmy colorful tourmalines, for shape, geometry, and the sleek black luster like waxed shoes. It is complete and 360 degrees all around, doubly-terminated, and pristine except for a few very tiny dings. It is not repaired. The simple elongated shape is in contrast to the subtle details everywhere you look closely. A stunning, "colorful black" mineral specimen, from the gem crystals suite of the Gene Meieran collection. Difficult to value as black tourmalines are admittedly valued a bit less than the standard colorful gemmy "stick," but this is special. We valued at $4000-5000.
