Item Description
Dramatically sculptural large 360-degree parallel-growth schorl from an unknown Minas Gerais pegmatite. The numerous pyramidal terminations on the splendent jet-black supremely striated compound crystal add much presence to the piece. Streaks of embedded feldspars, mainly in the termination faces and scattered patches of iron oxide staining add color and interest. Complete all-around, the two primary terminations are pristine. Bruised tips to a few side car crystals and a bit of edge wear are certainly only modest detractions to this imposing and aesthetic large schorl. Formerly in the the Dr. Joseph Kaufman Collection of Connecticut. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1997. A fine and uncommonly architectural large schorl from Minas Gerais.
