Schorl and Quartz (DT)

One of the finest Schorl specimens of this particular habit that I have seen from the Erongo Mts. Every single crystal (they range up to about 1.2 cm) on the front of this 6 cm cluster has superb luster and incredibly sharp form. It is complete all around with only partial contacting (though still lustrous) on the back, along with an intergrown coating of probably white Orthoclase. The Quartz crystals on the front range up to 1.5 cm long, and some are doubly-terminated. Even better in person. A killer in its own right! Charlie Key kept a large suite of schorls, mainting these to be an underappreciated find in their day. This piece exemplifies why he felt that way.
