Schorl On its own, or albite on its own, would not be so interestingbut this is a really striking combo piece with both species showing starkly contrasting habits, and of course the black and white color contrast as well. It seems like "just a schorl", at first. But looking at it is mesmerizing. This piece was long in the private collection of dealer Herb Obodda, who basically opened up Pakistan for mineral collecting and assembled over 30 years, one of the finest collections of minerals from this region. One of the things he kept were interesting combination pieces, rather than just necessarily the most expensive pieces. I have seen hundreds of schorls, but not one quite like this.
