Schorl, Almandine Garnet, Microcline & Quartz

Two almandine garnet crystals are aesthetically set on the side of a striking, stout, tectonically bent 10.1 cm schorl crystal, itself dramatically set on the side of the sculptural, large blocky matrix of microcline and quartz. The impressive, large, sharp, lustrous, 2.2 x 2.1 cm, textbook almandine trapezodhedron is rust-brown with nifty yellow to red highlights under bright light. The lustrous, jet-black schorl is well-striated and has a contacted termination. Combination specimens of this large size and quality are RARE from this less well-known Riverside County silica-feldspar quarry. Outstanding older material from the Bob Reynolds Collection. A must for the species or locality collector of Southern California material!
