Item Description

A wonderful single prismatic crystal of jet-black Schorl from Little Cahuilla Mountain in Southern California. The piece is complete all around with no major damage, only a few tiny nicks. The defined striations along the prism, play nicely against the predominant large smooth lustrous pyramidal face on the termination. If you collect worldwide Tourmalines or minerals from California, this is a great representative piece to add to your collection. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
