Item Description
These fine quality, attractive and interesting Scheelite specimens started coming out in the mid 2000s. Of all the colorful minerals found in he high mountains of Pakistan, Scheelite is not something that you would expect to see. The various pegmatite and "Alpine-type" deposits are not necessarily the environments that one would expect to find Scheelite, and according to the entry on mindat.org, these Scheelites came out of a pegmatite, which is highly unusual in my experience. This piece is an attractive small cabinet display specimen featuring a couple sharp, lustrous, rich orange-red colored, pseudo-octahedral (di-pyramidal tetragonal) crystals measuring up to 2.3 cm associated with gemmy, colorless, prismatic Quartz on matrix. The main Scheelite is complete and undamaged and slightly translucent when backlit. If you collect Scheelites, tungsten minerals or interesting pegmatite specimens, don't miss out on this showy display piece from this odd locality in Pakistan. Like most Scheelites, this one shows a bright blue-white fluorescence under SW UV light.
