Item Description

The specimens from Pingwu are some of the most unique and attractive minerals from any locality in China. Without question, the most impressive specimens of Scheelite are found at this locality, which have set the standard for the species worldwide. This specimen hosts a fine quality, sharp, lustrous, pseudo-octahedral crystals of orange colored Scheelite measuring 1.9 cm which is assocaited with GEM quality, colorless, tabular hexagonal crystals of Goshenite Beryl measuring up to 1.5 cm across sitting atop a crystallized matrix of compressed, bladed, silvery Muscovite. It's rare to find tabular Beryl crystals from any locality, let alone such fine quality examples with Scheelite like this! A bit of iron oxide inclusions under the Beryl crystals give them the appearance of having an orange color, but they are truly colorless. The quality is very good all around, with only a tiny bit of roughness that I can see on the Scheelite. A great quality association specimen from this unique locality. Priced at $1,250.
