Item Description

A rarely seen specimen from the old Obří důl locality (formerly Riesengrund) in the Czech Republic. These pieces are seldom available on the market, and are distinctive for their color, form and uncommon association with Fluorite. This piece features a pair of sharp, lustrous, medium golden-yellow colored pseudo-octahedral crystals of Scheelite measuring up to 4 mm, sitting in the middle of gemmy, colorless, modified Fluorite crystals on matrix. The Scheelite crystals show an unusual combination of yellow and blue fluorescence under UV light. A very attractive thumbnail sized example that you're not likely to find anywhere else on the market. From the collection of Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar (1946-2007), the well-known mineral dealer and collector from Colorado. Rich named his company Mineral Classics because of his love of old European classics like this piece.
